Modern British Oil Painting (1990) by Ronald Smith R.S.W., R.G.I., P.A.I. (b.1946)

£685.00

A beautifully executed Modern British oil painting by Scottish artist Ronald Smith R.S.W., R.G.I., P.A.I., painted in 1990.

This work continues Smith’s exploration of layered abstraction, combining cool and warm tones — soft creams, blues, greens and ochres — in a balanced, rhythmic composition. The paint has been built up in translucent and opaque layers, creating depth and texture across the surface. Shapes emerge and dissolve within the field, echoing organic forms yet remaining non-representational.

The painting exemplifies Smith’s lyrical style and mastery of colour relationships, characteristic of his mature work during the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Presented in its original solid wood float frame with a subtle shadow gap, matching the 1989 companion piece in design and dimensions (5mm size difference).

A related work by the artist, painted in 1989, is also available from Hutt, making an ideal complementary pairing.
