Original Swedish Modernist Painting

A Joyful painting with its cropped composition and swampy greens with a naive execution. It depicts a lunch with a knife and fork ready to tuck into a dish of pickled fish with an egg salad next to two boiled potatoes. There are bread rolls and onion along with a teacup surrounding the plate. I love how the artist has carefully captured such an understated lunch with the window surround given as much attention as the food.

Nils Artur Nilsson (1906-1992) was a Swedish Artist whose work is in the collection of the Malmo Museum amongst others.

Oil on Board signed Nils Artur to the lower left corner of the painting.

Presented within a painted wooden frame ready to hang.

The painting has craquelure across the surface but it is stable with no loose paint.
