Atelier Ellis x Hutt: The Art of Colour & Creating a Home
Curating Through Colour
For the collaboration, I curated a selection of artwork and design pieces to sit alongside Atelier Ellis paint colours, considering how tone, texture and proportion worked together.
The process explored how colour can influence the way objects are experienced — how a painting, piece of furniture or decorative object can be transformed by the atmosphere around it.
Rather than treating colour as a backdrop, the aim was to create a dialogue between paint, artwork and objects, showing how these elements can work together to build a more layered and considered interior.
I have long admired Atelier Ellis for their thoughtful approach to colour and their belief that a home should be a reflection of the people, stories and experiences within it.
Their carefully considered palettes are inspired by the natural world, memory and place, creating colours that feel layered, timeless and deeply connected to how we experience a space. Rather than simply decorating a room, their approach considers colour as part of the wider story of a home.
This philosophy strongly resonates with Hutt’s own approach to sourcing — creating interiors that feel personal, collected and full of character rather than dictated by passing trends.
The collaboration between Atelier Ellis and Hutt brought together a shared appreciation for craftsmanship, considered design and the relationship between art, objects and the spaces they inhabit.
Craftsmanship & Character
A shared appreciation for craftsmanship was central to the collaboration. Both Hutt and Atelier Ellis value the importance of thoughtful making, quality materials and the details that give objects and interiors their individuality.
I am always drawn to pieces that reveal a sense of process and intention — whether through the hand of the maker, the character of an artwork or the careful development of a colour palette.
Bringing Art & Colour Together
The collaboration reflected Hutt’s wider approach to interiors: bringing together art, furniture, objects and colour to create spaces that feel personal, layered and considered.
By combining contemporary colour with collected pieces, the project explored how modern design can sit comfortably alongside objects with history, creating interiors that feel both timeless and lived in.
